(page 3) The pathogen starts making copies of itself. It thinks it can take over! But here come the first responders: Macrophages! These giant cells swallow up invaders and alert the other heroes! (Page 4) After gobbling up the enemy, the macrophages show pieces of the pathogen, called antigens, to the Helper T cells. This is like sending out an emergency call for backup! (page 5) The B cells hear the call and transform into plasma cells! They start making antibodies, tiny weapons that stick to the pathogens and stop them from spreading. (page 6) Meanwhile, Cytotoxic (Killer) T cells arrive! They find infected cells and destroy them to stop the pathogen’s plan! (page 7) Once the battle is almost won, Regulatory T cells make sure the superheroes don’t attack too much. They help the immune system calm down and return to normal. (page 8) After the battle, some B cells turn into Memory Cells. These cells remember the villain so they can defeat it even faster next time! (page 9) Bella feels better! Her primary immune response was strong, and next time, her secondary immune response will be even quicker! (page 10) Thanks to the Immune System Superheroes, Bella is safe! Her body is always ready for the next adventure!

Once upon a time, there were two children named Audrey and Daniel. Their dad loved fishing more than anything! One sunny day, Dad packed up his fishing gear and took Audrey, Daniel, and their Jack Russell terrier, Butch, down to the creek for a day of fishing fun. Butch, of course, was excited for a swim. Poor Daniel! The fish kept stealing the bait right off his hook. Hours passed, and Dad and Audrey caught lots of fish. They started to pack up, but Daniel was determined. "Even if I have to stay all night," he declared, "I'm going to catch a fish!" Just then, Daniel's line started to zip! "Get it! Get it!" Dad yelled. Daniel pulled and pulled, and up came a beautiful barramundi – almost bigger than Daniel himself! He had caught the biggest fish of the day! Dad was super proud of Audrey and Daniel. They were fishing masters! They went home smelling strongly of fish. "You better go clean up!" Mum said, "I'm not letting those stinky fish monsters back in the house!" After a good scrub, it was time for dinner. Dad cooked the delicious fish on the barbie, and told them stories of his amazing fishing adventures. He promised their next trip would be on a boat! Audrey and Daniel couldn't wait for their next big fishing adventure with their dad.

Nik is from Haiti and moving to America to go to school. He is excited to meet his new family, 3 brothers and 2 sisters and a dog. He is very scared to leave Haiti. Nik was scared on the plane but loved seeing the big city lights. He liked his new home, it was bigger than hes ever seen. The washing machine and dryer was very scary to him because he had never seen one before. His dog Luna was sweet and friendly. All of the food is very different. He didn't like ice cream or cake but he loved spaghetti and pizza. Nik was both excited and sad at bedtime. He's never had a room or a bed to himself so it was a little scary. His new mom stayed with him until he was ready for sleep. As he lied there alone, looking at the stars in the sky, he wasn't scared anymore because he knew his family in Haiti was looking at the same stars.
